The PsyCorona intiative has generated a number of academic publications, which can be accessed through the links below. Policy makers who have specific questions can contact psycorona@rug.nl to make their requests.
PsyCorona is an ad hoc, multinational collaborative study in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Broadly speaking, we study the psychological factors that predict how people respond to the coronavirus and to the associated public health measures. The ultimate goal is to provide actionable knowledge that can serve to enhance pandemic response. To achieve this goal, PsyCorona was designed with three distinct phases: (1) a cross-sectional survey, (2) follow-up surveys, and (3) integrative data science.
The PsyCorona survey is available in 30 languages. The survey was distributed online, through a combination of convenience sampling, snowball sampling and paid procedures. Paid online panels were used to supplement the self-selected responses in an effort to achieve national representativeness in key countries. The survey consists of a baseline survey (starting March 2020), followed by weekly recontacts throughout April and May 2020. In June 2020, we switched from weekly recontacts to monthly recontacts. At the most recent count, more than 60.000 people world-wide have taken part.
One of the main aims of the PsyCorona project is to make the data available to policymakers and analysts, who might be interested in comparing psychological responses to the pandemic across countries. In line with this aim, we have created an online data visualization tool, which you can access below.
